How long have AMSOIL products been available?
In 1972, AMSOIL introduced the first synthetic motor oil with an API (American
Petroleum Institute) Service Classification. Since that time,
AMSOIL has added many premium products to its original oils, and distributes them
through a highly efficient dealer-to-customer network. Learn more at
If AMSOIL is so good, why don't the auto makers pre-fill with AMSOIL at the factory?
Simply because they are so good. The auto manufacturers' and your dealer
actually want your vehicle to wear out and have a life-span within a
specific period of time, so you have to buy a new one, or come
to the dealer for repairs. AMSOIL lubricants have been proven for over 25
years and hundreds of millions of miles to significantly extend the life of a vehicle's
engine and drive-train. Read the article in Lubes'N'Greases Magazine.
What is the Four Ball Wear Test?
The Four Ball Wear Test puts one rotating ball against three fixed balls under
specific conditions of pressure, temperature, revolutions per minute and duration.
he test may be used to evaluate the friction- and wear-control ability of liquid
lubricants or greases in sliding contact. The Four Ball Wear Test is a good laboratory
tool for developing oils with good engine wear control.
The results appearing on the AMSOIL Series 2000 20W-50 Racing Oil (TRO), Series 2000
0W-30 Motor Oil (TSO), and Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil (HDD) were from
testing done by a well known independent lab. Such a facility would not jeopardize
its reputation by misrepresenting test results.
AMSOIL ran literally thousands of tests in our own lab before we sent the product
for testing. The independent lab's results correlate very well with our own.
Will I see an increase in gas mileage with AMSOIL?
AMSOIL Motor Oils reduce friction and drag better than petroleum oils and other
synthetic oils, resulting in significant mileage increases. In a
recent 1.2 million mile demonstration, AMSOIL showed a 4.5%
increase in gas mileage. Other tests have shown greater increases under certain
weather and driving conditions. Every vehicle is different, as are driving habits
and conditions, and it is difficult to predict an actual increase.
How do I change over to AMSOIL Motor Oils?
In engines with over 30,000 to 40,000 miles or in older vehicles, it may be wise to
use AMSOIL Engine Flush first. This will ensure that the engine is clean and free of any
accumulated dirt or sludge which might have affect on the life
of AMSOIL Motor Oils. It is always a good idea to install a
new AMSOIL Super Duty Oil Filter (SDF) every time you change oil, in order to receive
the maximum benefit of the superior qualities of AMSOIL.
I have a small 25hp marine diesel, and I am looking for a new fuel filter.
I need a bleed screw on the top of the filter so I can bleed the air out after changing
the filter. Your filters have a Removable Primer Plug. Can this used to remove
the air from the filter so I won't have to pump all the air through the entire
system to bleed the engine?
The instructions that come with the ADF-75 unit state that when the element is changed,
the priming procedure would help eliminate air from entering the unit. The instructions
state that when the filter element is replaced, the bowl should be filled 2/3 with
fuel, and when the bowl is re-attached, complete the prime through the primer plug.
The one-way check valve and the location of the inlet and outlet tubes (at the top
of the unit), help eliminate air.
